Hi, I'm a Psychiatrist. I help people who need help with mental health. Love hearing music and watching movies.

For Lisa, mental health care has been an important part of her life for years. She has spent much of her adult life working through depression, anxiety, and the emotional weight that can come with different seasons of motherhood.

As a mom of three, Lisa understands how much pregnancy and postpartum can affect mental health. She had support from a primary care provider in the past, but when she began working with Dr. Kummerlowe at The Remedy Mental Health, she felt something different.

Dr. Kummerlowe’s focus on prenatal and postpartum mental health made Lisa feel understood in a way that was specific to what she was experiencing.

“She really understands the changes women go through during pregnancy and postpartum, especially how hormones can affect mental health,” Lisa shared.

Even though their appointments were virtual, Lisa said she felt at ease from the beginning. She described Dr. Kummerlowe as someone who made her feel seen, supported, and cared for without ever making the information feel overwhelming.

“She has this ability to make you feel so comfortable,” Lisa said. “You can tell she cares, and she has a lot of great information to offer without it feeling like too much. She is a breath of fresh air”

During her most recent pregnancy, Lisa remembers the value of having consistent check-ins and support. Knowing she had someone in her corner helped her feel more grounded and accountable throughout the experience.

“Having someone check in and support me was so helpful,” she said. “It felt like someone was pouring into me.”

Looking back, Lisa describes her most recent pregnancy as her best experience, largely because of the support she had in place. Through medication management with Dr. Kummerlowe, she felt better equipped to manage the ups and downs, care for herself, and show up for her family.

“I feel like I’m a better mom and wife because I can cope so much better,” Lisa shared. “I have more tools in my toolkit now.”

For Lisa, seeking support has been one of the most important investments she has made in herself. She knows it can be difficult to admit when you need help, but she wants others to know that taking that step is worth it.

“It is hard, and it is not always easy to admit it or seek it out,” she said. “But it is so worth it. Your mental health means so much, and you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others.”

Today, Lisa hopes her story helps normalize asking for support, especially for women navigating pregnancy, postpartum, motherhood, or other major life transitions.

“There is no shame in asking for help,” she said. “Invest in yourself.”
